Treatment Services

Therapeutic Milieu

Pearl Haven’s trauma-responsive and attachment-focused milieu catalyzes a uniquely beneficial experience for youth. Utilizing Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®), an evidence-based, holistic approach to treating trauma, Pearl Haven focuses on helping youth feel safe through connection and structure. This improves emotional regulation, proactively identifies and prevents traumatic triggers, and supports trauma processing, ensuring youth can develop and practice skills that support a successful transition back into their home community.

Clinical Services

At Pearl Haven, assessment, evaluation, and treatment are not separate processes; they comprise a holistic program that begins at admission and continues throughout the youth’s stay. By achieving collaboration between youth and family, Pearl Haven’s treatment planning connects each youth to targeted, gender-specific, evidence-based interventions; it also establishes individual treatment goals designed to lower risk factors and build upon protective factors and innate strengths.

Pearl Haven also offers a variety of programming that is both experiential and expressive:

Individual and Group Treatment

Pearl Haven’s clinical approach focuses on providing individual, group, and family treatment services that are tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual being served. Specialized Treatment Groups focus on the youth’s immediate risks and needs and work to strengthen skills and protective factors. The youth’s individualized treatment plan provides a roadmap to healing and goal attainment.

Trauma Counseling

Pearl Haven offers trauma integrated counseling services that promote healing and growth. These services include both individual and family counseling.

Substance Use Group

This group is designed to provide a supportive learning space where the youth can develop skills and coping strategies, improve communication skills, and improve self-confidence.

Grief and Loss Group

This group uses evidence-based trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). This psychoeducational and process group focuses on helping youth process complex grief they may be experiencing over losses they have experienced over time.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an effective treatment for teens who experience significant anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, social skills issues, and other concerns related to mood and relationships.

Teen Relationships

This group incorporates counseling and psychoeducation about healthy choices, boundaries, self-esteem, healthy attachment, and conflict resolution topics.

Nurture Groups

Nurture groups are derived from our Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training and are focused on helping youth with complex trauma develop healthy and trusting attachments and relationships.

Positive Skills and Youth Development Groups

This is a powerful set of groups that help our youth learn pro-social skills that will help them with school, employment, relationships, and self-awareness.
